LG Outline August 2025 – WEEK 2

SPECAL EDITION – EXCEEDINGLY, ABUNDANTLY, ABOVE

Week 2: ASKING ACCORDING TO GOD’S WILL

During this study, we will be doing a ‘deep dive’ into a scriptural passage. It is strongly encouraged that you study the passage and entire chapter ahead of the study. Also be prepared with your research tools, for example Google or your study Bible, as you will need to reference it during the study. Spend time answering and discussing each question with the intention to gain sufficient understanding to help your own private Bible study as you further explore these topics.

Study Chapters: Romans 12:1-2, Ephesians 1-3

Guidance for your personal study of the scriptural readings for this week:
  • What does it mean to be “transformed by the renewing of your mind” in Romans 12:2?
  • How does this transformation help us discern and ask according to God’s will?
  • In Ephesians 3:14-19, what is Paul praying for, and how does it reflect God’s will?

Pilot text

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Ephesians 3:14-19 14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Discussion Points

  • Explore the phrase “rooted and grounded in love” (Ephesians 3:17). What does this imply about spiritual maturity?
  • Consider the dimensions of God’s love – breadth, length, depth, height. How do these relate to our understanding of His will?
  • Why is it important to ask according to God’s will, and what happens when we don’t?

Closing thoughts:

Courageous prayer is not reckless but is rooted in revelation. When we know God’s character and align our hearts with His will, our prayers become powerful and effective. Our understanding of asking needs to evolve. It is not a way to prompt God to act, but as a way to align ourselves with what He has already done. Scripture is clear: God has already given us everything we need for life and godliness. His provision isn’t pending, it’s complete.
This changes the nature of asking. It’s not about convincing God or waiting for Him to move—it’s about stepping into what He’s already made possible. When we ask in alignment with His will, we’re not initiating a transaction but entering a reality. We’re tuning our hearts to the frequency of heaven, discerning what’s already true in the spirit, and allowing that truth to shape our lives here and now. It’s a process of spiritual agreement, where faith meets divine provision and manifests it in time.
So as we reflect on this week, let’s ask ourselves: Are we praying from fear (of lack) or (knowledge of) fullness? Are we approaching God as if He’s withholding, or knowing that He’s already released everything we need? Because when we ask according to His will, we’re not trying to get God to act; we’re learning to walk in what He’s already finished.

1 John 5:14-15

14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

Application Questions (use scriptures to support your position):

  • A friend wants to make a major life decision and asks you to pray with them. What steps would you take to help them discern God’s will?
  • “The more we know God’s love, the more our desires change.” Agree/disagree with reasons.
